BE A GREEN HERO!
A contribution of INR 200 includes planting a sapling of a local variety, chosen based on the region's biodiversity, and nurturing it for optimal survival with active community participation. Trees are planted in the most vulnerable regions, benefiting communities through non-timber forest products and enhancing the green cover.
- In 2022, India lost 117,000 hectares of natural forests, releasing 62.9 million tonnes of CO₂. Assam alone lost 306,000 hectares of tree cover between 2001 and 2022.
- Climate change is impacting ecosystems, economies, and societies globally. With a 1.5°C temperature rise, 20-30% of species could face extinction, and iconic animals like tigers and snow leopards are losing their habitats.
- Melting glaciers, frequent droughts, and floods threaten freshwater ecosystems. The Himalayan glaciers, crucial to the River Ganges, are under severe stress, affecting over 650 million people.
- We work with local communities to increase green cover around villages and expand wildlife habitats, enhancing biodiversity. Along with environmental conservation, your contribution also supports indigenous handicrafts, preserving cultural heritage.
As a Green Hero, you are fighting against climate change and helping to create a better future for both people and the planet.
